The resource is organised in such a way that each creative area is divided into themes to encourage users to recognise the potential to engage with a variety of artists’ work.

My Square Mile was initiated by the Design Commission for Wales to encourage the use of the local built environment as an educational resource. It explores relationships between buildings, space and people to develop design awareness. It helps children understand how the environment is shaped and managed. It celebrates local distinctiveness and local identity. It nurtures emotional attachments and belonging-a sense of place. It raises issues about what the environment might be like in the future.

This interactive whiteboard resource is based on a selection of pictures from the collection at Bodelwyddan Castle. Pictures of industrial scenes are used as the stimulus for discussion and practical work NGfL Cymru is grateful to the Clwyd Fine Art Trust and Joint Area Museum Education Service for allowing works from the collection to be shared amongst schools in Wales.

This interactive whiteboard resource uses a selection of Peter Prendergast’s landscapes and figure studies as the stimulus for discussion, critical analysis and practical work.

By the end of this lesson students should be able to: * identify some different styles of portraiture * learn about paintings that can be seen at the National Museum of Wales * transfer their work via a digital camera or scanner to a simple graphics programme * learn about the technique of pointillism * use a computer to help them research and use images to produce original artwork * develop their research into art work, print, painting or computer graphics images.
